Great food. Great people. Great new location. I am a Texas BBQ snob and I endorse this Q.

Love their new location. I love the fact the their staff, including Brandon the owner, was friendly and roams the dining room, making sure everyone was happy. My wife remarked that the service here is better than any restaurant with table service. She is right. We also love the live music. The decor is a bit hodgepodge. The industrial lighting needs to go. We do love the family style seating and it encourages interactions between diners. Th BBQ was disappointing. We had pulled pork, pulled chicken, burnt ends and ribs. Sadly all was dry and over cooked. Taste of smoke was few and far in between. There was only one style of sauce to use. The collection of sauces at the pick up counter was also wanting. Their cole slaw was very good. I have had their BBQ previously, in their old location and had been very impressed. Perhaps there are still bugs to work out in the new place? So, while this is not the greatest experience and review, well be back to give them a couple more tries.

We had the best night. Live music, the owners brought over a basket of toys for the kids, the food was great. Perfect atmosphere. They also won the mac&cheese competition. We have 7 kids. It can be hard to find a table sometimes but they cleared a place for us right away.

This place was small but cute and the people were SUPER friendly. We decided to get take out. Ribs, chicken, pulled pork, and brisket. The food was solid & tasty. I've DEFINITELY had better, but part of me is like, "we are in VT, it's not the BBQ capital." So ... it was good!

Excellent. If you are near white river junction, you have to try this place. Great BBQ. And try the beans - really. I hate baked beans and they happens to be a side on my dish. Wow. Ate them all first. The brisket and chicken are excellent.

The staff was nothing to speak of but the food was outstanding, we would definitely go again.

Stopped in for lunch today. Had the burnt ends. They were crispy and tender. Coleslaw seems like it's straight out of the Sysco box though. I'd definitely go again.

Good food, decent price! I'm not a big fan of the location, but everything else is great!

Love the food and also the new location. Never had a bad meal.

We had the piggy sampler. Burnt ends and pulled pork were very good. The mac and cheese and baked beans were homemade delicious! The slaw was good too, and I'm not always a fan of slaw if it's not done right, so that's saying something. This was a great choice for good food, good portions.

The food is tasty and the portions are huge. Got there at 6:15pm on a Sunday night only to find out that they close at 6...so their odd hours can make it frustrating if you are craving ribs in the Upper Valley. Big Fatty's may not be the BBQ you're used to but, having lived in the south for 7 years, I've found that even southerners can't agree on what constitutes "authentic southern BBQ". This food is smoky, tender and good. Pecan pie is excellent. Just make sure you call ahead and check to see if they're open.

Having lived in Texas, Tennessee, Alabama, & North Carolina, my standards for BBQ are pretty high. When I learned of Big Fatty's I was a little excited and a lot skeptical. Unfortunately, it's the skepticism that won out. I've have been to Big Fatty's two different times and both times just didn't work out like I had wanted it to. The pulled pork was underflavored and it's texture and consistency was not what I was used to, in a bad way. It pulled apart too easily and practically melted in your mouth (weird). The fried okra was fried frozen and came out in a tasteless clump. My order of a dozen wings only had 11 and when I told the woman at the register, she told me that they would give me an extra wing "next time". The seating is extremely limited inside though there is a small outdoor seating area. Drinks are only offered by the can or the bottle, so no refills unless you're willing to pay for another can, which by the costs of the meals, you won't want to pay for another drink. As much as I would have liked Big Fatty's to be that slice of Southern Pig Heaven in northern New England, I'm sad to say that it's borderline the other way.

pretty bland BBQ and I am a northerner. The membrane was still attached to the back of the rib which is an amateur move not to remove. Additionally the place was full of flies, and where there are flies there are maggots.

In the winter, this place is definitely more of a take-out place than a sit-down place like others have mentioned. The service was quick and friendly, but I was a bit disappointed by the food. The ribs, cornbread, and baked beans were okay, but the coleslaw, collard greens, and BBQ chicken were quite bland. (Okay, so I was *really* disappointed by the coleslaw and collard greens because I really like both, and I thought that it was pretty difficult to make coleslaw taste bad.) The chicken was a bit dry too. The fried pickles and fried okra were so-so.

Had some big fattys BBQ for a catered function at work. The beans and pulled pork were actually quite good. The sauce was sweet and not to tangy and the ribs were good also. Hey it's the upper valley and there isn't much at all for BBQ up here so this will have to do if you get a craving. I didn't really like the chicken but the coleslaw was very good.

When people think of New England BBQ, they have probably experienced something along the lines of Big Fatty's, and that's not a good thing. I was very excited to hear that there was a BBQ place coming to the Upper Valley! However, this place completely misses the mark. I've gotten a number of dishes from them -- pulled pork, ribs, brisket, sides, etc. Overall, it's okay in a pinch but needs some serious work. Ribs -- not meaty enough, too tough and too greasy, and I can't tell what style they are supposed to be. Carolina? Memphis? Pulled Pork -- probably the best on the menu, but very greasy. Sides are pretty good, but I've had better. Coleslaw is decent, corn bread is okay. The biggest stickler is that they are very overpriced, especially when compared to something like KC's down in Manchester. Their seating is non-existent, which I understand, but this means you have to get it to go...which means that when you get home, your food is cold -- even if you live 2 blocks away. If you live in the UV and have a craving for BBQ, head down to Manchester, because KC's is hands-down much better.

Hubby & I have purchased food (take-out) from here once. Probably will return, but only at a frequency of 1-3 visits/year - too much pulled pork from this place will surely cause cardiovascular disease. The food was good: We both got pulled-pork. Sauce came on the side. There was a good amount of what I believe was melted lard pooling in the bottom of the styrofoam containers, which solidified some in the fridge (we couldn't eat it all at one sitting but not for lack of trying!). Hubby's meal came with fries. By the time we drove the food back to our house they were cool so he only ate 1/2 of them, but that's probably for the best considering the lard as described above.

We walked in at 8:57 and they closed at 9:00. They took our orders graciously and were so friendly. We sipped on some beers while we waited for our burgers and had the whole place to ourselves. The manager made sure we had everything we needed. Best place in town!

Soooooo good. Their BBQ is awesome and home made cornbread too! It's best to go in the summer and enjoy their picnic tables. There is very little indoor seating. It's a very casual place, the owner is very personable and a fast mover! The kitchen is open and you can watch her cook. They also cater, but I haven't tried their catering yet.

Very good BBQ sauce. My husband loved the burnt ends. Stopped here on the way through the state. Not the best location, but there were a few outdoor seats.

If you're looking for good BBQ, BIG FATTY'S is THE place to go! If you're looking for lighter fare, the salad bar here can't be beat. A personal favorite is their maple mustard chicken tenders. The wait staff is very friendly and the owner is a great guy.

Don't waste your time. I had the brisket and my wife had the pulled chicken. The brisket was half fat and the chicken super dry. Ignore those four star ratings they have never had real BBQ. The staff was great location ok , but the food was horrible. My wife's only comment was glad didn't barf..

Best BBQ in the area - very friendly staff, tasty meat, reasonable prices - take-out is the easiest, but there are some tables inside and out. I recommend the whole chicken, ribs, or pulled pork. Don't forget to ask for extra BBQ sauce (they sell bottles of it), a side order of hush puppies, and some pecan pie for dessert if you still have room.

We got the sampler which included choice of two meats (pulled pork, pulled chicken, burnt ends, and Texas brisket) and 4oz. of the cole slaw, mac and cheese, and beans. We got the pulled pork and pulled chicken. I think it was $0.50 extra for the buns, but I think you should get them to make a sandwich with the meat. We also got ribs, which were huge. Overall, thought the pulled pork and pulled chicken were amazing! The ribs were OK, I thought there was a little too much fat. But the BBQ sauce was incredible, not sure if they use their own sauce or not. If I went back, I really want to try their cornbread (I read there is bacon in it!) and definitely go for a pulled pork sandwich that's not part of the sampler. We didn't eat there but the place was really big and clean and the people there were so friendly.

Average. The food is average. I got 1/4 rack of rib and 1/4 chicken with a side of coleslaw. The end of the ribs were very tough. The rib is supposed to fall off the bone, right? I tried a different one, full of nothing but fat and cartilage. After pulling cartilage out of my mouth after the 3rd rib, I was done. It was actually disgusting. No real complaint with the chicken, it was moist. Baked beans were home made, they weren't out of a can. Corn bread wasn't bad, but not great. My coleslaw lacked love. Maybe a little bit of sugar? apple cider vinegar and a tad bit of pepper? Or just leave it plain with no taste, hmmmm? My g/f got the kielbasa, had a honey mustard sauce on it. I tried a bite. The sauce itself was great. However, I feel as if the kielbasa was of low quality. She also had the salad bar. It was iceburg lettuce; it was fresh though. Staff was accommodating and the place is clean.

Fatty's BBQ & Maple Street Catering's new restaurant in White River Jct. VT! I was blown away with the ribs (so succulent), fried okra, pulled pork, good old fashion mac and cheese made with Cabot sharp cheddar(definitely not from a box), but the brisket is to die for (juicy and very, very flavorful). Great service with friendly smiles in a Casual atmosphere, lay back and super delicious food! Perfect combo!

This is my first one star review! I've been hoping one of these would come along soon. This is the only redeeming part of my patronage of Big Fatty's. My family picked up takeout from Big Fatty's for dinner. There were seven of us eating. We ordered: Pulled Pork Pulled Chicken Fried Pickles Baked Beans Mac and Cheese Sweet Potato Fries Hush Puppies It was a lot of food for seven people. Their serving sizes are pretty large. Despite the abundance of food, five out of the seven people at our table walked away from dinner hungry. The verdict was that the only decent offering were the baked beans. Almost everything else went uneaten. My grandpa and brother were the only two who enjoyed the meal. To put that in perspective, my grandpa has no sense of smell which makes up 70-75% of your ability to taste. My brother prepares (and enjoys) Hamburger Helper without draining the grease off from his meat. He considers this to be a good meal. I wouldn't come back. I'm not sure why anyone would.

Big Fatty's pretty much exemplifies Yelp's two star description of "Meh. I've experienced better." My brother-in-law wanted take out from Big Fatty's for his birthday, so we got a ton of food and ate it at home. We ordered some pulled chicken, pulled pork, mac and cheese, fried pickles, baked beans, hush puppies, sweet potato fries, and regular fries. We definitely got a good feel for the menu. Nothing that I put in my mouth was terrible, but none of it was good either. The meat was essentially steamed--no rub on the outside, no crisp, no smoky flavor that is basically mandatory if you're going to call it BBQ. It came with one type of sauce (not sure if there are other options if you dine in) that was alright. The fried pickles (dill spears) were fun and unexpectedly good. The baked beans, which had several different types of beans along with onions, were definitely the crowd favorite. Everything else, unfortunately, was just kind of...meh. Maybe somewhere between meh and actually bad. I would not eat Big Fatty's again. Their most direct competition in Hanover is about a thousand times better. I was just...not impressed.

Excellent BBQ!! First time here. Down-to-Earth good food. The Burnt Ends were the best (got the Piggy Sampler). Baked beans great! This place needs to be on Diners Drive-ins and Dives on Food Network. A little known gem here in the Upper Valley! Oh and the $3 Lagunita IPA sealed the deal!!

Good BBQ. Good price. The deck is nice. Over all a really great experience and my favorite BBQ in NH, and VT. Also absolutely amazing tea that can be made into proper southern sweet tea!

Stopped in during a long car trip to see what this Vermont bbq place could have to offer. I definitely taste bbq with high standards being from Texas...but it was pretty decent. The wings were great. The ribs were somewhat burnt and then I found some pink in the middle which makes me think they were cooked too quickly. Fried okra was delicious though.

I stopped in for lunch. The portions are pretty good size and the BBQ was tasty. I lived in North Carolina for several years and got accustomed to really good southern BBQ. The food here might not win in a contest with southern grillmasters, but it's very good for New England. The sauce is excellent. Definitely not a fancy place but clean and friendly. I'll go back!

Cannot beat the lunch for the price. Several $5 options including a salad bar with soup and meats. Always a good call for lunch.

Delicious BBQ in Vermont (of all places). The brisket is excellent. Prices are reasonable, especially for the smaller sizes, which are still pretty big. Enjoy.
